Extraordinary objects for everyday living
Today’s more informal lifestyle calls for versatile and durable furnishings that can be casual, yet are beautiful and well made. Responding to these needs, AXEL Interiors’ owner Andrea Cross has assembled the kind of standout furnishing and decorative pieces that make a room. AXEL’s offerings provide design-minded consumers and trade professionals access to some of the most innovative and creative craftspeople working today. Made in America—in studios from Brooklyn to Maine—the style Andrea has curated at AXEL focuses on quality classics with a modern sensibility.
AXEL also serves as the Connecticut showroom for Interior Crafts’ line of custom upholstered furniture and The Belgian Shade Company’s window treatments. Design professionals are encouraged to register their trade accounts.
Owner Andrea Cross has an extensive background in art and antiques. Earning an Art History degree from Dartmouth College, and following curatorial internships at Winterthur and the Whitney Museum, Andrea spent nearly a decade in Christie’s Estates and Appraisals Department.
She also served as an independent advisor in the disposition of estate property, most notably as a consultant to Sotheby’s 1997 auction of the Collection of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
Transitioning to the design field, she received certifications from the New York School of Interior Design and New York University’s program in Appraisal Studies. Andrea was an associate at Grey Watkins (now a division of Stark) and a designer with Cynthia Jones and Fisher Interiors.
