10th Annual Innovation in Design Awards

Andrea Cross of AXEL was honored to be asked by CTC & G Editor-in-Chief D.J. Carey to serve as one of the Product Design Judges for the 2016 Innovation in Design Awards.

East Coast Home + Design

East Coast Home’s “Travel by Design” issue featured a Westport, CT design project by AXEL owner Andrea Cross. In the author’s words, Andrea’s “passion for understanding people and spaces was unmistakeable” in the home of these long-time clients.

Connecticut Cottages & Gardens

Reed Hansuld’s iconic Stool No. 1 appeared in Connecticut Cottages 2016 Kitchens issue. This annual publication is eagerly anticipated by the design community and homeowners alike—it covers the best of the market from drawer pulls to full kitchen systems. “What’s Cooking” features the new, on trend and must haves for the kitchen. Handcrafted furniture like designer Hansuld’s stools are, without a doubt, the perfect ingredient for any design enthusiast.

Connecticut Cottages & Gardens

Ceramics from AE Ceramics were featured in CT C & G’s holiday gift guide. Maker Alison Evans hand molds and glazes pieces in her coastal Maine studio, drawing inspiration from the natural shapes of marine life.

Luxe New York

AXEL interiors was profiled in the Spring 2015 issue of Luxe Magazine. Owner Andrea Cross had the opportunity to share her vision for the new shop; “We are more akin to an art gallery than a typical home furnishings store.  We represent the work of artisans who are crafting pieces in studios, not factories.” The renovated space is a far departure from its former life as a Sunoco station.

Cube tables, designed by AXEL’s owner Andrea Cross were featured as “New in the Showrooms” in the pages of New England Home’s Spring 2015 edition.  Wrapped in Confidence fabric from Rodolph, Inc. these petite pieces are highly decorative and versatile and are available in three color ways.

New England Home’s Spring 2014 issue features AXEL Interiors in their Trade Notes: “An an interior designer whose background includes a decade in the estates and appraisals department at Christie’s, Andrea Cross has developed a true eye for quality to match her broad knowledge of historical styles and construction methods. That makes her uniquely suited for her current passion—her new shop, AXEL Interiors. Cross and her husband turned an old gas station into a chic boutique filled with a lively mix of both classic and modern furniture, accessories, and fine art.” The issue also contains one of AXEL’s first ad placements.
