Projects vary in scope and style, but the priorities are constant; create a functional floor plan, source new and antique furnishings of the highest quality, and carefully edit art and accessories.
Andrea Cross, a 30-year industry veteran, brings an extensive knowledge of fine art, antiques and design history to her work. Earning an art history degree from Dartmouth College, and following internships at Winterthur and the Whitney
Museum, Andrea spent nearly a decade at Christie’s in the Estates and Appraisals Department.
Transitioning to the design field, Andrea attended the New York School of Interior Design and New York University’s program in Appraisal Studies. She worked at several design firms before establishing her own practice in 2013. In
addition creating residential interiors, Andrea serves as an independent art consultant for clients and fiduciaries looking to expand or disperse collections.
Andrea opened Axel as a design and retail studio in Norwalk, CT; presenting furniture, lighting, fine art and objects from makers throughout the region. While her focus is now exclusively on residential projects Andrea regularly
employs custom pieces by these artisans in her interiors.
