As designers, we saw a growing need for furnishings that could pair well with antiques and mid-century pieces. Our clients were looking to update, and most were living more informally, but any additional elements needed to relate to and be as fine as their existing pieces. At the same time, we were seeing amazing work coming out of Brooklyn makers’ studios – elegant, well-designed pieces that were just the sort of modern heirlooms that could easily find place in our projects.
Axel’s showroom opened in 2014 and provides a curated tour of some of the finest workshops from Brooklyn, New England and beyond, presented alongside vintage finds.
